A Stylish Sketch Board That Fits Anywhere

Design Inspiration: The idea behind Roll it is inspired by the common problem faced by designers - the struggle to fit large sketch boards into their stylish small bags. The designers observed that designers often roll sketch papers to make them fit, and this became the basis for their innovative solution.

Design Unique Properties: Roll it is a revolutionary solution to the problem of carrying large sketch boards. It consists of a series of poly-wood segments shaped by C.N.C, which can provide a reliable and flat sketch board on one side. On the other side, it can be easily rolled up, allowing designers to carry their sketch board anywhere they go.

Design Realization Technology: Roll it is made of H.D color poly-wood. The poly-wood segments are shaped using C.N.C technology and are attached to a strong fabric using a special glue. This unique combination of materials and craftsmanship allows for a versatile and portable sketch board.

Design Specifications: Dimension: 31*22*1 cm

Design Interaction: Roll it is designed to be user-friendly. It can be easily rolled up when not in use, providing a compact and convenient solution for designers. When needed, it can be unrolled to provide a flat surface for sketching. This innovative design eliminates the need for designers to carry large bags and allows them to have their sketch board with them at all times.

Design Location and Timeframe: The Roll it design project was completed in Tehran, Iran, in June 2013, over a duration of 6 weeks.

Design Research: The designers conducted user observations and identified the common problem faced by designers in fitting sketch boards into their bags. This research formed the foundation for the development of Roll it.

Design Challenges: The main challenge faced by the designers was finding a solution to fit an A4 sketch board into a small bag. Roll it successfully overcomes this challenge with its innovative design.

Design Notes: Roll it is a unique and practical solution for designers who struggle to carry large sketch boards. Inspired by the practice of rolling sketch papers, the designers created a versatile sketch board that can be easily rolled up and carried in a small bag. The combination of poly-wood segments and a strong fabric provides a reliable and flat surface for sketching. With Roll it, designers can have their sketch board with them wherever they go.
